Green Party Presidential Candidate Swings Through Southern Republican Strongholds

David Cobb in Wisconsin 2004

Green Party presidential candidate David Cobb will be kicking off a ballot access drive through several southern states at the Arlington County Building (2100 Clarendon Blvd.) in Arlington, Virginia on Tuesday, July 27 at 3:00 p.m..

The Green Party of the United States is the electoral arm of the movement for social justice, nonviolence, ecological wisdom and grassroots democracy. The priorities of the Cobb '04 campaign include: ending the U.S. occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan, repeal of the Patriot Act, providing universal health care and a living wage for all; building schools not prisons, and creating a multi-party democracy which uses Instant Runoff Voting in publicly funded elections to achieve proportional representation.

The Cobb '04 campaign believes in equality and justice for all people - including marriage equality - and that the United States should move towards energy independence; slowing global warming and creating jobs through a crash program to get energy from clean and renewable resources such as wind and solar power. Other Northern, Va. stops by Cobb/LaMarche on Tuesday may include Ballston, Shirlington, and Arlandria, as well as an evening "House Party" at home of the founder of the DC Green Party.
