The Green Party of Virginia (GPVA) has endorsed Independent candidate Kiesha Preston for Roanoke City Council. Preston is an activist, advocate, and single mother who wrote and successfully lobbied for the Domestic Violence Victim’s Protection Act, which was signed into law by Governor Ralph Northam on March 23, 2020. Her campaign is focused on the problems of housing, mental illness, police oversight, and racial discrimination in Roanoke City.
GPVA Co-Chair Ryan Wesdock said, "Kiesha has courageously fought to ensure that voters have a choice this November to address the problems of housing, poverty, mental health, and police reform. Her openness, advocacy, and lobby work shows that she is committed to her constituents and to being an ethical, transparent officeholder. For these reasons, our party endorsed her campaign for city council by consensus.
